White Domain

Every once in awhile I get a chance to play a bit more with TNG, the genealogy software that I've licensed for use on White Domain.

As a genealogy application, TNG is great. Getting it integrated with Drupal is a real PITA. I'm beginning to think the best approach is simply to link from the Drupal generated pages to new pages completely generated by TNG. This means that you will also have to have a separate account in order to access the TNG databases.

I think I'll have the TNG generated pages open in new windows or tabs in your browser. That way, if you want to compare data in the different databases, you will only have to click on the different tabs.

That said, I have a few tasks left to do.

• update Drupal
• update Drupal modules
• install TNG on White Domain
• import four genealogical databases
• create the menus and links to the TNG databases

So it appears I have my work cut out for me.

By the way, I've also been testing TNG with the latest version of Wordpress, another content management system (CMS), and I also had difficulty integrating the two packages. As a result, I'll be sticking with Drupal as my CMS. That in itself will eliminate all the problems that would be encountered in trying to move the existing content.
